■ Iron functions in the body: Iron is necessary for haemoglobin formation and plays a vital role in oxygen delivery to the cells. Poor reservoirs of iron in the body leads to iron-deficiency anaemia.
■ Features of iron deficiency in children : Fatigue, pallor, lack of concentration and inadequate growth. Prolonged iron - deficiency anaemia in children may lead to low IQ index, immune system deficiency, and inadequate growth.
■ General Tips: 1- In case of forgetting one dose, continue as scheduled . Do not increase the next dose. 2- To reduce the risk of teeth colouration: A: Drop on end of the tongue and immediately give the baby some water or lemon juice. B: Dilute with water or fruit juice and give with a dropper.
3- Do not use if color or smell of the product has changed. 4- Stool dakening is usual with iron products. GI bleeding should be ruled out.
■ Dosage and administration.

■ Adverse effects: Nausia, vomiting, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, anorexia, dark stool. If the symptoms are severe or persist for several days,stop using the product.
■ Overdosage: Recommended dose should be used exactly. Overdosage specially in children is dangerous and the child should be taken to the hospital immediately.The symptoms may appear after 1 hour. In case of using tetracyclines , chloramphenicol , penicillins , antacids , zinc supplements and oral urinary tract disinfectants , the patient should consult with a phisician before using this product.
■ Storage: 1- Store between 40C and 250C and keep away from light. 2- Keep away from reach of children. 3- Do not use after the expiration date. 4- After openning the cap , product should be used within 1 month. Then , the residue must be disposed. 5- Expiration date on the label is valid until the cap has not been removed.
■ Packaging: Oral Iron Drop is available in 15 ml glass bottles accompanied by a dropper in a paper box. Each drop contains 125 mg ferrous sulfate equivalent to 25 mg Fe 2'
